Recently at the GRENADE GAMES/TWSSF in Whistler, Dave Fortin had the slam of his life. If your at all familiar with Dave you know he has balls of steel. Here is a quick Q and A with Dave after the life altering experience.

NLINTEL-Was that the worst slam of your life?

DAVE- Definitely it was the worst one yet.

NLINTEL-What was going through your mind when you first started practice?

DAVE- All i could think about was gapping the butter box. the size didnt bother me, but the lip of the jump was the same height as the top of the landing, so speed was gonna be an issue. I was afraid that i might clip the edge of the butterbox on the way up, or it’s take off on my way back down, if i hit it straight on, up and over.

NLINTEL- do you remember the slam? Walk us through it.

DAVE- The second time i hit it, things went alot better. I straight lined the in-run and sent a fs 9 that came up a foot short. That gave me the confidence to try it again. All I had to do was give it a bit more pop off the lip and i would make it. So thats what i did in my second run of the finals. I was going fast, the fastest I had hit it.When i went for the ultra pop I caught my tail on the end of the take off and it sent for a tumble. i landed on my side on the knuckle.

NLINTEL- How are you heeling up?

DAVE- I spent a bit more than a month doing almost nothing. Now I’m back at work and playing soccer. I healed up fast and things are back to normal. I’ve been going hard at work to get stronger

NLINTEL- What are your plans this summer?

DAVE- I’ll spend some time on the glacier this summer at camp o champs, and next season I plan to keep sending. I’m far from defeated. theres no better feeling than flying, even if you have to pay the price once in a while.
