Phil is a very FRENCH very mysterious man. I thought it was time that we get to know this man and what makes him tick. Read below and find some depth in SESSIONS team rider Phil Jacques Lets talk to Phil.

#1-Who are you?
Phil (stands for Philippe) Jacques, I come from Quebec city, Canada. My sponsors are Sessions, Capita, Union, Coal, Spy and Radical Board Shop.
#2-Why does Quebec have the best rail riders in the world?
I don’t know really. I guess just the fact that we don’t have the biggest mountains around. And then the whole city happens to have an impressive number of handrails and riding with LNP, Louif Paradis and all those guys is like demanding yourself absolute perfection before you can call your trick landed, no coming out six inches early or tapping presses here. I guess now that our two best parks have been cursed by RCR’s “no jumps policy”, we’re kinda stuck into riding rails too.
#4-What is you favourite type of snowboarding?
Rail riding is fun. (Uuhh very original smart ass) But otherwise I love jumping so much, I just hate it not having the opportunity to do it everyday. Then those days when there is good snow and you’re just riding the trees for fun with friends are pretty dope as well. In other words pretty much any time I strap in.

#5-What type of music does Phil Jacques listen to?
I’m gonna have to say it depends on how I feel or what kind of mood I want to be in. It goes from the heaviest metal riffs to french hip-hop. The only thing I absolutely can’t stand is freaking techno music.
#6-Describe the perfect snowboard day for you?
One of two scenarios. 1- Shooting a rail and landing the trick I had in mind. 2- just riding for fun in the park or the trees with the homies.
#7-Who are you favorite snowboarders and why?
I’m gonna have to say Louif Paradis because he has the most impressive ability to focus and forget about the consequences of what he’s about to do on his board.Travis Parker cause he had the sickest ideas and riding style.
#9-Describe your worst slam, how did it happen, what happened?
Ok, here’s a bad one. Last March while filming for “WHAT”, we were hitting this small down rail to ollie over the stairs double line, it was like two in the morning and we’d been sessioning a jump for three days at Le Massif. I was trying a hardway half cab nose-press on the rail, when I dropped in there was this split second moment of inattention and when I popped into my trick I caught my nose(that was my tail since I was switch) on the rail, which caused me to fall with all my weight on the left side of my rib cage on the rail. When I fell to the ground I just couldn’t breath at all and it wasn’t until they shot me some medicine in the hospital before I could breathe comfortably. I had broken three ribs and punctured my left lung with one of them. Luckily enough my lung had sealed back by itself right after the impact so I didn’t need to get a drain. So that was three complete days in the hospital and like three months healing. It was scary and it sucked.
#10-What are you doing this season? Videos, photos, trips, contests?
I’m still gonna be shooting for the Brothers Factory project and I’ll be filming for Autumn Line as well, trying to get more coverage out of Canada. I’m hitting the road next week with Brothers Factory, heading to Calgary and to the US. I guess there’re gonna be a couple more trips like that to go shoot with Autumn Line.

Phil Jacques..the man, the myth, the mystery.
